One of the things that I really noticed wandering around the first full day was how squashed in all the Chinese people are!

And we also came across this bunch of Chinese tourists, who took us to a tea party! Seriously, we sampled a bunch of different tea in China:

I was commenting to them about how smoggy Shanghai was and they assured me that it was one of China's cleanest cities! Damn...

We opted for more western food that night, popping in to a German beer hall for a huge pork knuckle, mmm :-)

We also amused ourselves by getting on the pub TV and nicking some balding guys tambourine (to the great amusement of everyone sitting around us), check out the footage here...

Next day we wanted to go see a water village, but slept in too much and just missed the bus. Well, we actually made it to the bus seconds before it pulled out, but they wouldn't let us on it without a ticket and no amount of pleading would suffice. Oh well, wasn't that bad as we got to head towards the Yu Garden and check that out instead, it was located in this huge touristy area:

The Yu Garden itself was basically like a small water village, was very cool:

They had great facilities:

Didn't know they had electricity 200 years ago:

Good foundations with this building:

Was just damn relaxing wandering around, and not getting hassled to buy watches, bags, DVD's or crack cocaine for a change:

Back out in to the shopping area, packed with all sorts of stuff to lighten your wallet and weigh down your shopping arms:

We had one last wander along the Bund (waterfront), taking in the Pearl during the day:

Then it was off to the airport to fly out! here's some snaps from the taxi showing just how smoggy Shanghai is:

Still, was damn glad we went through the hassle of getting Chinese visas and doing the 3 night stopover! Would recommend it if you get the chance, very cool city.
