As soon as we arrived in Petra, we jumped into a bus and headed off to Wadi Rum to stay the night at Zawaideh Desert Camp:
Things to see were, um, desert:
and more desert:
Grant and I made our own fun. I told Grant to go up to this rock and push it over:
Unfortunately for him, it fell the wrong way:
Splat:
(I gave Grant some CPR, so he was sweet after I lifted the rock off him)
The other thing to do was jump in jeeps and hoon around the desert!
Stopping off at some of the locals tents for some tea:
And checking out some carvings in the cliffs. We were told they were a couple thousand years old, (I guess I was wrong to think that it just looked like the locals came down one night and did a half arsed job of carving some picture in the wall to attract tourists):
The attention to detail and ability of the artist was stunning:
The only other thing to do in a desert is climb up a cliff and check out the sun set:
Wasn't too flash, but fairly cool all the same:
Back at the desert camp they created a nice fire for us, with the aide of some petrol:
They also put on a great feed, cooked very similarly to a hungi.
